As Well As Research Into Rare Forms of Cancer
The Jennifer Diamond Foundation, dedicated to helping people win the fight against all forms of cancer, hosted its inaugural Jennifer Diamond Celebrity Regatta on September 13, 2003, at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, California. The event was a tremendous success, a lot of fun, and raised over $125,000.

The regatta was followed by an awards dinner and silent auction at the Marina Del Rey Marriott Hotel, with musical entertainment for the evening provided by The Platters-Live, the perennially popular doo-wop signing group from the '50s, known for such hits as "Only You" and "The Great Pretender."

Other notables who attended the event and showed their generous support for our foundation were actor/director Ed Begley, Jr. (Net Games, St. Elsewhere), Peter Greenberg (NBC's Today Show, KABC Radio), actress Nancy Allen, Super Dave Osborne, Jay Johnstone (California Angels), Olympic Silver Medalist Peter Carruthers, actress Lynn Holly Johnson (Ice Castles), actor Esai Morales (NYPD Blue), actor Scott Baio, Wendy Sperber (Bosom Buddies) and singer/songwriter Neil Diamond.
With the money raised from this tremendous event our plans for this year promise to be very exciting. Working in tandem with The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, The Jennifer Diamond Foundation has created the first, of what is hoped to be many, cancer research libraries.
Housed in The Wellness Community's Valley/Ventura facility, the library which is open to the public stocks the latest books, videos, and periodicals dealing with all forms of cancer. State of the art computers to aid research are available and trained research personnel are on hand to provide individual assistance.
With the money raised from last year's regatta we look forward to begin the construction of three additional JDF Cancer Research Libraries throughout California this year alone. We are also working with other organizations as well and have begun funding art therapy programs for children dealing with cancer through the Los Angeles-based cancer support center WeSpark.

While last year's regatta was an overwhelming success, this year's Celebrity Regatta promises to be just as exciting. The dates are July 18 & 24, 2004. We strongly encourage anybody interested to contact the foundation at (310) 550-0800 or via email.
